This Saturday, January 29th, marks the 150th birthday of the State of Kansas! Beyond watching the KU / K-State basketball game (How fitting it's on the 29th! It's like they KNEW), here are some other great ways to celebrate our great State's
sesquicentennial.
Kansas Cookies- Buy a box of graham crackers and a thing of cake frosting. Take one of the full cracker sheets & break off a bit from the upper right-hand corner. It's now the shape of Kansas! Spread frosting over the cracker & enjoy! Recipe Note- Add sprinkles if you're feeling really celebratory.
Kansas Coloring- The
Kansas Historical Society has some great PDF's available as coloring sheets. I'm about ready to print some off & put them up around my office; I think the
Birthday Streamer will be first.
Kansas Capitol Trivia- If you are planning a trip to the Capitol Building soon, check out the questions for the State Capitol
Scavenger Hunt. P.S. It looks really hard.
Kansas History- The Historical Society is currently featuring the saloon-smashing Carrie Nation in an
online exhibit. They also have a
huge list of people who were influential in Kansas history.
