I know everyone was waiting with bated breath to get the latest scoop from various State and Federal departments. However, a certain blogger forgot to put a note on the calendar...
So here we go!
I already missed the CDC's "Drink Water Week" which was May 1-7. Make it up by drinking double water this week!
Kansas Department of Health & Environment (KDHE)- May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month! Do what it takes to help prevent skin cancer! Here's a sweet map from the EPA showing UV Indexes. You can look up your location to see suggested procautions given the current day's weather.
May is also Arthritis Awareness Month! Check out info at the CDC's arthritis page.
Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks has some great information up about fishing & boating at Lake Perry. And please beware the zebra mussels. They're rated Super Infectious & they're spawning!
Following several recent boating incidents, KDWP would also like to remind everyone about using proper boater safety.
Also, please check the Jefferson County Community Events Calendar for upcoming events.
