Vaccinations are one of the greatest achievements in public health and have saved countless lives over centuries. Vaccines not only protect the person receiving them, they also help protect family, friends and the community. Vaccinated people protect vulnerable people who are unable to receive vaccines or who have poor immune systems due to health conditions. Vaccines allow the body to develop immune responses like having the actual infectious disease, but without the disease.
