Monday - Friday
8:00am to Noon and 12:30pm to 4:30pm

The Household Hazardous Waste Department is working with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to not only improve our environment in Jefferson County, but also to preserve it. Everyone benefits, including those of us today and future generations.

Items Accepted

We accept for disposal all household products and chemicals, latex and oil base paint products, oils and antifreeze, batteries, tires(for a fee), mercury, and herbicides.
We offer for reuse many of the products which are still in good condition, such as cleaners and paint products.

We will be glad to pump out your oil barrels with an appointment.

Items Not Accepted

We do not accept large quantities of chemicals such as agricultural herbicides, and oils containing PCBs.

Pharmaceutical Disposal

Research has found medications and their byproducts in ground surface waters, suggesting that disposal of old or unused medications down the toilet is not a completely effective way of preventing contamination.
