The Planning & Zoning Department would like to introduce Duane Buscher and Erin Scheuerman to the County.
Erin Scheuerman is the new Building Compliance Officer for the County and started work on May 9. Erin holds a Sociology degree from the University of Kansas and previously worked for a utility contractor in Lawrence for the past 5 years. Erin is responsible for issuing building and occupancy permits as well as permits for special and temporary events. As the Building Compliance Officer, she also monitors zoning and building violations and ensures that the County regulations are enforced fairly.
Erin joins another recent hire, Duane Buscher, the County Planner who was brought on board in November of 2010. Duane has a Masters Degree in Urban Planning from the University of Kansas and brings both real estate development and planning experience from the public and private sector to the County. Duane is very knowledgeable of land use policy and is responsible for evaluating land use applications (e.g. rezoning and conditional use requests) as well as maintenance and interpretation of the Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Regulations.
Please feel free to stop by the office and meet the new staff if you haven't already. If you wish to contact either Erin or Duane, their contact information is listed on the Planning & Zoning homepage.
